Pick your Battles
So, the Democratically controlled U.S. Congress has finally gotten itself in gear and has passed a resolution.........Denouncing Rush Limbaugh!!!!! Come on, do they seriously not get why their approval rating is the lowest ever. The Democrats in Congress got themselves elect by pandering to the far left; promising to end the war, better the minimum wage, increase health care and a whole slew of other things. So far they have delivered exactly nothing they promised. More over, based on the last Democratic Presidential Debate I think many candidates are starting to realize that the promises that they made to win both Houses of Congress are not viable nor are they in the countries best interest. On top of that, they decided to waste their time voting on a resolution with no binding authority, on someone they cannot have control over anyway, about something he didn't even say. Excuse me while I take a break to stop my nose bleed from the anurism that logic caused. More than just the dumb logic here, why is this even an issue being discussed in Congress; or better yet, where was this moral outrage a few weeks ago when MoveOn.org ran there Gen. Betray Us ad. The American Government has no business commenting on and monitoring the minutiae of everyday life, more importantly, they shouldn't even have the time. A government should focus on the broad sweeps of governing, smaller matters can be be handled by state and local governments. A government that tries to take a part in everything will eventually accomplish nothing. The seems to be a mass black out of the fact that we are not one Republic but Fifty distinct Republics form into a Union of One; E. Pluribus Unum. It seems as thought all focus has fallen on the One, when we as citizens are more a part of the Many; far more affect by local laws than national laws. More over, for about the last 20 years there has been a shift in the form of government has taken, and it is a dangerous one. Here I may be biased, but it is more much more manifest in the Democratic Party that it is blatant. For most of American History, people have flocked to the candidate that held the views that they themselves held important. Now, within the Democratic Party just the Opposite seems to be true. The Candidates are flocking to, and assuming the views of the largest voting block they can find, as long as it is Anti-Republican. As I said, it is most apparent in the Democratic Party, but this is not a fault that applies to all Democrats, and it does apply to some Republicans. We can see this in the difference in how the two parties govern. The Democrats take more of a, "what do you want; here it is," attitude While the Republicans take a more, "you elected us, lets us do what we feel is best for the country," attitude. I'm not saying that either is correct, but I know the the former is wrong. A government that gives the people what they want becomes weak and ineffective. It will also paint itself into a corner not unlike the premise behind, "The Producers," they will make promises that they cannot possibly fill. It is to the point that the Democratic Party is starting to look like whiny brats. Two years ago, they were complaining that they could not get any of their initiatives pass because of the Republican controlled Congress. Now they control the Congress and they are complaining that they cannot get any of their initiatives passed because of the Republicans. If they are looking for a perfect world where everything would go right for them, they would probably complain about that too.
